About Louis
I am a former university law lecturer and module convenor with a background spanning higher education teaching, legal research, and practical law firm experience. I hold an MA in Law with Distinction from the University of Sheffield, where my dissertation was published in a leading student law journal, and an LLM in Legal Practice with Distinction from the University of Law. Before studying law, I graduated with a BA in History from the University of Bristol.
In both my teaching and research, my focus is on developing students’ independent thought, critical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. I believe studying law should be intellectually engaging rather than an exercise in rote memorisation.
Having convened and taught undergraduate (LLB) and foundation modules for University of London degree programmes, I teach because I enjoy helping students cut through complex principles, master legal analysis, and build the confidence and technique needed to succeed in their assessments and the rest of their lives.

Who These Lessons Are For
• Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students: Tailored support for LLB, GDL, LLM, and all Qualifying Law Degrees (QLDs) across both core modules (Contract, Tort, Public, Land, Criminal) and elective modules, as well as dissertation and research supervision.
• SQE 1&2 Candidates: Single Best Answer Question (SBAQ) strategies for SQE1, and SQE2 oral and written skills coaching drawing on law firm experience.
• LNAT Applicants: Entrance exam preparation for Oxford, Cambridge, and Russell Group law admissions, covering Section A critical deduction and argument deconstruction, and Section B timed essay architecture.
My Teaching Approach
Studying law is about cultivating independent thought, skills of critical reasoning, and an understanding of how law and legal systems interact with policy and society. Having convened and lectured undergraduate modules for University of London degree programmes, I structure sessions to build both deep understanding and the precise technique needed to succeed in assessments.
• Clear and Easy-to-Understand Teaching: Simple breakdowns of complex legal principles, statutory regimes, case law, and academic commentary.
• Problem Solving: Effective techniques for the methodical application of law to factual scenarios under timed conditions.
• Essays and Critical Analysis: Forming and framing well-reasoned and persuasive arguments, evaluating doctrinal tensions, and critiquing academic commentary to reach first-class marks.
• SQE Strategy and Practical Skills: Methods for diagnosing SQE1 Single Best Answer Questions (SBAQs) and deducing answers, as well as SQE2 written and oral coaching drawn from first-hand law firm experience.
Lesson Format
• Delivered online in 45-minute sessions (available individually or as multi-session blocks).
