About Emma

Hello! I’m a freshman Film major at Western Kentucky University with a strong interest in reading, writing, storytelling, and English.

Writing has guided me throughout both my academic and personal life. During my time in high school, I was a part of my school newspaper and consistently earned some of the highest grades in my class on papers and essays. Now in college, I am a part of WKU’s creative writing club, while also using analytical skills learned through English literature in my day-to-day academic life as part of my major.

I am also an avid reader in my free time! Reading, dissecting, and analyzing books is something that I am very passionate about and want to share that with others.

As I am a current college student, middle and high school concepts are still fresh in my mind. I also know what it’s like to struggle with certain aspects of English and writing. It is my goal to help you overcome these challenges and come out the other side a better reader and writer!

About the lesson

I offer individualized lessons for middle and early high school students looking for help in English, reading, and writing!

With writing, I can help with essays, research papers, creative writing, grammar, brainstorming, proofreading, and more. I especially enjoy helping students transform their special voice into words!

Simply correcting a student’s work isn’t what I want to get from a lesson. I want to help the student understand what works and help them apply those concepts across all of their writing! We can build an essay from the ground up, tackle a current assignment, pinpoint a certain writing skill, or prepare for upcoming papers and projects.

Writing is the most individualized subject, every student approaches it differently. So I like to look into what exactly a student's strengths and weaknesses are and how we can use those pre-existing strengths to improve those weak points!

On the English and reading side, I want to help students feel capable of understanding and breaking down text. We can read through books and passages together to dive deep into themes, look at literary devices and how to understand them, walk through required reading together, and more!

But overall, I want my lessons to feel encouraging and get students excited about reading and writing. These concepts can be frightening to someone who isn’t comfortable with them. My goal is to help students gain confidence so they can tackle any assignment with ease!
