About Jean
Hello! I’m Jean, originally from Houston and currently teaching in Denver. I earned my Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016. Over the past seven years, I’ve tutored students in algebra, geometry, precalculus, and calculus—both one-on-one and in small groups. My goal is to build math confidence through patience and clear explanations. Outside of tutoring, I’m a big fan of mountain biking and applying geometric concepts to trail navigation.

My lessons focus on conceptual understanding followed by extensive practice. We begin with mini-lectures on topics like algebraic manipulation, trigonometric identities, or calculus derivatives, using step-by-step demonstrations. Then, we work through a series of targeted practice problems, gradually increasing in complexity. I use visual aids (graphs, geometric sketches) to clarify abstract concepts. Homework includes a mixed set of drill problems and applied questions. Ideal for high school students preparing for SAT/ACT or AP Calculus, and college undergraduates needing support in precalculus or introductory calculus.
