About Caitlin
As a PhD student at the University of Washington, I am excited about learning and facilitating the learning of my community. I tend to gravitate towards subjects in STEM (math, physics, biology, programming), but writing, communication, and research are fundamental skills that I use as a student here. In my free time, I love getting outside. I have gotten into competitive long-distance road and trail running, bouldering, and hiking during my time in Seattle.

I enjoy teaching a variety of subjects in STEM. My teaching philosophy is centered around student participation; I tend to ask students to explain their though process and articulate what they are struggling with. Sometimes, verbalizing problems can help students clarify their thinking and they are able to learn without help. When I am explaining concepts, I prefer to draw out my ideas, using a tablet or whiteboard. As a visual learner myself, I prefer to teach in the same way. I would be happy to help you work through questions, studying, and homework!
