About Dan

Hello, I'm Dan, a fully qualified and experienced teacher and tutor with extensive experience supporting pupils from EYFS through to GCSE level.

I have taught across the full primary age range and have specialist knowledge of early reading, phonics, SATs preparation and the primary National Curriculum. Alongside my classroom experience, I have been tutoring for almost four years, helping students build confidence, close learning gaps and achieve their academic goals through personalised one-to-one support.

My current role within the education sector involves developing and reviewing educational content and teaching resources for learners from EYFS to Key Stage 5. This allows me to maintain an up-to-date understanding of curriculum requirements, teaching approaches and assessment expectations across a wide range of subjects and age groups.

I am also proud to be a member of a review panel working with the Standards and Testing Agency (STA), contributing to the development and review of national assessment materials. This experience gives me valuable insight into how assessment materials are designed and what successful learners need to demonstrate.

My tutoring sessions are engaging, structured and tailored to the individual learner. I combine clear teaching, interactive activities and regular opportunities for practice and feedback to ensure lessons are both enjoyable and effective. Whether supporting a younger child with phonics and literacy, building confidence in mathematics, or helping older students prepare for assessments, I focus on creating a positive learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions and make progress.

As a qualified teacher, educational content specialist and active school governor, I bring a broad understanding of education and child development, alongside a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.

About the lesson

Every student learns differently, so my lessons are carefully tailored to suit individual needs, interests and learning styles. Whether your child needs support building confidence, catching up with classroom learning, preparing for assessments or being challenged further, lessons are planned with their specific goals in mind.

Sessions are engaging, structured and supportive. I typically begin by reviewing prior learning before introducing new concepts through clear explanations, discussion and interactive activities. Students then have the opportunity to practise and apply their understanding through carefully selected tasks, with regular feedback and encouragement provided throughout.

For younger learners, I use a range of engaging activities and games to develop key skills in phonics, reading, writing and mathematics. For older students, including those at Key Stage 3 and GCSE level, lessons focus on developing understanding, exam techniques and independent learning skills through a variety of active and purposeful tasks.

Regular assessment is built into lessons to monitor progress and identify next steps. My aim is not only to improve academic performance but also to help students become more confident, resilient learners who are willing to tackle new challenges.

Drawing on my experience as a qualified teacher, tutor, and educational content specialist, I provide high-quality resources and teaching approaches that support long-term success both in and beyond the classroom.

I offer both online and in-person tuition, with lessons tailored to each student's individual needs and goals.

Online tuition: £35 per hour
In-person tuition: £40 per hour (+£5 travel supplement for extended travel or to rural areas)

For families looking for ongoing support, discounted lesson packages are available:

• 5-hour package: £185
• 10-hour package: £375

I also offer a free 30-minute introductory lesson. This allows us to meet, discuss learning goals, identify areas for development, and ensure I am the right fit for your child before committing to regular tuition.

All lessons are individually planned and draw upon my experience as a qualified teacher, experienced tutor, and educational content specialist, ensuring students receive engaging, high-quality support that is tailored to their needs.

I provide all general learning resources required for lessons. For students preparing for specific examinations or following particular school programmes, it can be helpful for parents or students to provide any course-specific materials they are already using so that tuition complements classroom learning as closely as possible.
