About Jade
Hello potential students!
My name is Jade and I am a first year Honours Mathematics student at Carleton University. I currently hold an 11.0 / 12.0 GPA. Math has been a passion of mine since forever and I have been actively tutoring for several years now.
In high school I was in gifted math classes. During my grade 11 year I was placed as a peer tutor in a grade 9 Science class. I also ran a weekly drop-in based math-clinic (grades 9-12) during my grade 12 year. All the while, I ra n bi-weekly private tutoring.
Since coming to University in Fall 2018, I've been active in the Peer Support scene as well. I am currently a Peer Support volunteer in two different service centres at Carleton University.

I base my classes on the idea that every student learns differently - and this is especially true for math. We often conceptualize math as an innate talent that is bestowed upon some and not others. However, I believe that some students are simply underserved by the current format of the educational system. Everyone can understand math, but not everyone benefits from the same approach.
Thus, I try to structure my tutoring by what the student needs. Often, I've found that students simply need a patient and knowledgable adult to spend time with them to allow them to thrive. I believe any student who is committed to learning math can certainly do so.
