About Richard
I love teaching it has been a life long career for me that has taken me all over the world. I graduated from Southampton Solent University in 2012 receiving a BA in Tourism Management. After graduating I found a job overseas, teaching English as a second language in China. One of my key jobs was at Wall Street English a global chain of English schools. In this job I taught small classes of four students. The schools focus was on teaching conversational English with grammar naturally embedded in the lessons . After China I completed my CELTA in Hungry before spending a year teaching in Russia for EF. The classes were for a range of levels teaching conversational English to adults.
I knew when returned to the UK, I wanted to stay in teaching so I decided to take a PGCE. I have been working in the UK for nearly two years now, this time has been affected greatly by the pandemic. The challenges presented by the pandemic meant that in all my roles I had to be adaptable and independent. I taught extensively online during this time and learnt excellent strategies for engaging pupils online. Overall my time in the Uk has taught me how to deal with different types of pupils and how to teach to the highest standards. Having taught in both FE and secondary

My teaching methodology is the communicative method lessons will focus on real world communication and functional language. I always try to create a relaxed atmosphere in my classes so students are comfortable speaking. Lessons will usually focus on one or two grammar points and one subject, for example different phrases for giving advice around having a healthy lifestyle. I can create classes based on what you want to learn.
