About Yu

Hi! I’m Yumie, a recent Master’s graduate in UK. Mandarin is my native language, and I have a Level 2-A Mandarin Proficiency Certificate, which is the standard required for professional broadcasters and teachers in China.
The beauty of Mandarin goes far beyond words—it holds centuries of history, poetry, and profound philosophy. I’ve often found myself completely captivated while reading ancient Chinese poems, lost in their rhythm and depth. I’d love to share this passion with you and help you experience the richness of the language for yourself.

About the lesson

I’ve always had a deep love for language and communication—I grew up practising Chinese calligraphy, won Best Debater in a university debate competition, and worked as a student journalist with multiple published articles. So if you’re looking for a tutor who can help you not just speak Mandarin but truly express yourself with confidence, I’m here to help! I’ve taught Mandarin to students of different ages and backgrounds, including volunteering as a teacher in rural areas. My approach is all about making learning natural and enjoyable—step by step. Whether you’re a beginner wanting to build a strong foundation, a traveller looking for useful phrases, or an advanced learner aiming for fluency, I’ll tailor lessons to your needs.
