About Mikki

Hi! I’m Mikki, an experienced ESL teacher with a rich and diverse background in education, healthcare, and global service. I hold a Master’s in Teaching English and have taught students of all ages, from kindergarten to high school, in both international and ESL-focused schools. Originally from San Diego, I’ve worked in the U.S., South Korea, and am now preparing to move to Thailand to continue my teaching journey. My approach is creative, student-centered, and rooted in building confidence through meaningful and engaging lessons. I love using visual tools, real-life connections, and storytelling to help students truly connect with English. I’ve also served in the military, worked as a nurse, and traveled extensively—experiences that help me bring empathy, structure, and a global perspective into the classroom. My goal is always to create a safe, inclusive space where learners feel valued, supported, and excited to grow.

About the lesson

As an experienced ESL tutor, I take a student-centered, visual, and interactive approach to teaching. I believe language learning should be fun, practical, and confidence-boosting, so I use engaging techniques like role-playing, storytelling, visual aids, and games to support students in building real-life communication skills. Each lesson is structured but flexible, typically starting with a warm-up, followed by goal-focused instruction, practice activities, and meaningful application through speaking or writing. I tailor every session to fit each learner’s needs, whether they’re children, teens, or adults at the beginner to intermediate level. My lessons are especially effective for visual and creative learners who thrive with clear guidance and interactive content. What sets me apart is my ability to build strong connections with students, create a safe and inclusive space, and bring a global perspective from my international teaching experience. I’m passionate about helping learners gain the confidence to use English in everyday life, work, or school—and I’m here to support them every step of the way.
