About Elizabeth

I am currently undertaking a funded History PhD at King's College London. I hold a Masters in Renaissance and Early Modern Studies for which I was awarded a distinction and full funding as well as a BA Hons (First Class) in history and politics from the University of York. Given this, and my career as a tutor, I have extensive experience with the demands of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, the standards expected for assessment/dissertations and achieving the highest grades possible.

Availability and location
During the week I am available to tutor from around 10am until 6pm. At weekends and holidays I am available from 10am to 8pm. In the lead up to the exam period I can provide intensive revision sessions and/ or revision guides.

I am fairly flexible in terms of location and have taught across London and I am happy to meet students at their university libraries.

About the lesson

Since 2007, I have worked with a number of undergraduate and postgraduate students, helping them with their procedural and summative assignments, as well as personal statements and research proposals. During these sessions, I have helped students to plan their assignments, structure and develop their arguments, integrate their sources into their work and express themselves clearly and accurately. In addition to this, I help them to understand how a piece of academic research and writing can be outstanding, by emphasizing the importance of coherence, structure, focus and persuasion. It must take an original approach, either by approaching a well-researched topic from a different angle; developing a new credible hypothesis from that which has already been discussed; or by introducing new primary source material and evidence, coupled with intelligent insights. The piece of writing must contain accurate and consistent citations and references as well as be grammatically sound and stylistically clear. Recently I have worked with undergraduate politics student on essays, assessing how just key international financial institutions are and the politics of the Middle East. I have also worked with a number of history PhD students to help them submit their work and prepare for their vivas.

She took the time to go through carefully and look at the structure of the text, and If you're stuck she goes through and explains the different steps of how you should write the dissertation.
