About Epiphany

I am a 23 year old Creative Writing and English Literature student with a passion for languages (I speak Welsh and B1 French), film, reading, writing, and dance. I love the pursuit of knowledge and empowering others to feel confident in their abilities. I have always enjoyed studying English but I know that's not the case for everyone, so hopefully I can inspire students to find the elements of the subject that speak to them and encourage them to excel.

I have an enhanced DBS and also work as a Passenger Assistant, Student Ambassador, and occasional childminder!

About the lesson

I use a personalised approach to meet the needs of each student, whether that be through visual cues, verbal, or through creativity and play. I know that each student has potential and I aim to unlock that through collaboration, compassionate listening, and focused goals to address issues and encourage strengths. Lessons are 60 minutes and are for students up to A level in English. I am studying Creative Writing and English Literature at UEA and received A*s in A Level and GCSE English Literature and Language.

A typical lesson will begin with a quick catch up of what the student is doing in class and how they're feeling about it. I then tailor the following 50 minutes to whatever we decided to cover at the end of our previous lesson. One example would be going through a specific past paper question, annotating extracts together, prompting the student to write a thesis statement and putting together an essay plan. Another lesson could look like teaching and broadening knowledge on context, themes, or character profiles in a text. I always include time for independent writing, as well as collaboration.

Epiphany tutored my daughter in GCSE English literature and language. She was engaging and organised. She not only went through the content for the various texts with her, she also coached her through how best to approach questions and structure her responses / essays. She set work and also reviewed work done at school. I’m convinced her support allowed my daughter to achieve top marks in English and helped with her essay and writing skills all around. I heartily recommend her.

Epiphany was a fantastic tutor for my cousin during his GCSE English Language and English Literature studies. Her teaching approach was clear, engaging and really helped build his confidence and understanding in both subjects.

We were extremely pleased with his final GCSE results and could see the improvement he made with Epiphany’s support and guidance. She explained things in a way that was easy to understand and helped him feel much more prepared for his exams.

We’re very grateful for all her hard work and would highly recommend Epiphany to anyone looking for an excellent GCSE English tutor.
