About Javier

I am a graduate in economics in Barcelona. In addition to knowing English, I am bilingual in French and have a medium level of German (language of the country where I currently reside). As mother tongues, Catalan and Spanish. Before moving to Germany with my partner, I spent two years working in the United States and was able to visit more than 25 states. I used English daily to deal with my colleagues and clients, and although I was already at a fairly advanced level, those two years provided me with practical and realistic English, away from the monotonous theory that we see in classes of classic reinforcement. For my hobbies, English has always been a constant. My predilection for foreign authors (in economic / historical matters) and audiovisual content in OV did nothing more than boost my knowledge of this language from a practical and everyday perspective. The theory, rules, and books are fine. But that is not how a boy from Virginia learns English, and I intend to approximate my way of teaching to that of a practically native person. I have an official FCE and CAE qualification (200/210).

About the lesson

My courses are aimed at students whose objective is to obtain the Cambridge FCE or CAE qualifications, commonly known as First Certificate or Advanced Certificate. In addition, I also offer courses to those with a basic / intermediate level who simply want to improve their level of English for personal / work reasons. For "Profficiency" levels or students with more experience with the language, I recommend looking for native teachers, since although I have a high level, a native teacher will always offer a plus when it comes to their mother tongue. On this platform there are fantastic teachers of various English-speaking nationalities. Once that point is clarified, I would like to mention some aspects of the method that I use without revealing all the details that I think differentiate it from the rest of the academy classes on duty. Learning a language has to be fun, as well as something to apply perseverance and discipline to, but come naturally. That class time does not come and one thinks "well, I have an hour of rollazo ....", on the contrary, it should be seen as an entertainment space. Learning happens collaterally. just like learning a sport. I combine a series of "pillars" to offer a series of points to follow, with the aim of reaching a marked level in a short period of time, passing exams such as the FCE / CAE or simply teaching ways of learning the language that you can later apply on your own after a few classes. The first class is a test, to get to know you and your level of English, identify needs and casuistry and define a strategy and objectives. We will discuss the method with which I intend to teach you and we will see if it fits your expectations. The rest is unlimited potential that depends only on your desire to learn this fantastic language. PS: I teach American English, the one spoken in the United States. It is the most common in the business world and the easiest to learn for Spanish-speaking students due to phonetics and dynamism of the language. For Cambridge tests, it is allowed to use any variant of English as long as it is consistent and does not mix with English from Canada, New Zealand, etc ...;)
