About Robert

I am was offered unconditional places to all five Scottish Art Schools with 5As at Higher and 2As at Advanced Higher. I will help you understand the exams and/or portfolio in the creative subjects within the Scottish curriculum.

I have just graduated from Glasgow School of Art.
I have been working as a pupil support assistant in high schools for the past four years. I have experience as a youth worker. I recently ran a community drawing class in Glasgow.

About the lesson

Art and Design Exam Prep

We will work closely with SQA guidelines and Pass-papers to build up confidence in both knowledge and exam technique. The first lesson will establish the stage of the student and the previous work completed with the school. We will discuss Artists and Designers practice and devise strategies to use knowledge in an effective and timely way. We will also practice time management which is essential in this exam. I will provide in the form of a course pack pass papers as well as information on the chosen artists as well as summaries of each session for revision. We will also examine individual study styles, methods of revision that can be applied to any subject area.

Design and Manufacture Design Prep

We will be working with a lot of passpapers for this exam. We will break down the exam to its three component parts and build up a pool of answers and responses. We will build upon gaps in knowledge and practice exam technique. As an exam with plenty of time, students can afford to go overboard making sure they get every question right. This is an exam that with the right study the student can achieve 99% pass rates in.

Graphic Communication exam prep

A wild card this exam has lots of surprises. With an emphasis on understanding course values and building fundamental knowledge balanced by strong exam technique the student can be ready for the strange examination that makes up the graphic communication .

Portfolio sections
Learn how to play to your strengths and interests with your portfolios. We will build upon course work and streamline the studnst to get to the heart of the project. We will devise a plan and strategy that makes for an interesting project while keeping in mind SQA mark systems. (Although at a distance)
More of a tutorial based learning thes sessions will be used to check in, disguss ideas and make plans. Lessons in drawing, design, painting and other skills can be arranged to suit the project and subject.
