About Cecily
I'm a rising junior at Cornell who got in with a 32 ACT and below-median GPA by building a focused, intentional application narrative around food systems and sustainability. I help students in 9th through 12th grade identify their "spike" — the specific thread that connects their activities, coursework, and interests into a story admissions readers remember. My approach covers the full picture: narrative strategy, personal statements, Why School and Why Major supplements, and activity descriptions. I work best with students who have something real to say and just need help figuring out how to say it clearly and specifically.

I'm a rising junior at Cornell studying Environment and Sustainability. I didn't get in because my numbers were perfect — I got in because my application told a clear, specific, and coherent story. Every essay, every activity, every supplement pointed to the same thing: a genuine, years-long obsession with food security, sustainable agriculture, and what it actually takes to feed people in the context of climate change.
That story wasn't an accident. I built it intentionally — I took an agroecology course, worked daily on my high school's farm, spent two summers as a research assistant in a plant genetics laboratory, led my school's Students for Environmental Action Club, and spent a semester researching food insecurity in the Bahamas. When it came time to write my essays, I didn't need to invent a narrative. I already had one.
That's exactly what I help students do.
I work best with 9th, 10th, and 11th graders — early enough to actually shape your story, not just polish it at the last minute. That said, I'm happy to work with seniors too. There's usually more of a story already there than you think. My focus is helping you identify the strongest, most authentic version of yourself — connecting your coursework, activities, and goals into something an admissions reader will remember.
I specialize in:
Application narrative strategy and spike identification
Personal statement brainstorming and editing
Supplements — Why School, Why Major, activity descriptions
School list development based on fit and story alignment
