About Promise

My name is Deborah Idogun, and I offer mathematics tutoring for students in Grades 1–6. My goal is to help students understand mathematical concepts, improve their problem-solving skills, and build confidence. I provide organized lessons, practical examples, exercises, and regular assessments to monitor progress. I am committed to being patient, professional, honest, and supportive while helping every student achieve their learning goals.

About the lesson

Short Math Lesson Plans for Grades 1–6
Here is a simple math lesson plan for each grade, designed for a 30-minute class. Each lesson includes a topic, objectives, activities, practice questions, and a short assessment.

Grade 1 – Addition Within 20

Objective: Students will add two numbers with sums up to 20.

Materials: Counters, pencils, and number cards.

5 min – Introduction: Count from 1 to 20.

10 min – Teaching: Demonstrate addition using objects (e.g., 3 + 2 = 5).

10 min – Practice: Students solve 4 + 3, 6 + 2, and 8 + 5.

5 min – Assessment: Ask students to solve 7 + 4 independently.

Grade 2 – Two-Digit Addition

Objective: Students will add two-digit numbers with and without regrouping.

Materials: Base-ten blocks or place-value charts.

5 min – Introduction: Review tens and ones.

10 min – Teaching: Demonstrate 24 + 13 = 37.

10 min – Practice: Solve 35 + 22 and 28 + 17.

5 min – Assessment: Solve 46 + 15.

Grade 3 – Multiplication

Objective: Students will multiply numbers using equal groups and arrays.

Materials: Counters and worksheets.

5 min – Introduction: Count by 2s, 5s, and 10s.

10 min – Teaching: Explain 4 × 3 as four groups of three.

10 min – Practice: Solve 3 × 5, 4 × 6, and 7 × 2.

5 min – Assessment: Ask students to solve 6 × 4.

Grade 4 – Fractions
Hands-On Activities for Teaching Fractions - Worksheets Library
Objective: Students will identify equivalent fractions.

Materials: Fraction strips or paper circles.

5 min – Introduction: Review halves, thirds, and fourths.

10 min – Teaching: Show that 1/2 = 2/4 using fraction models.

10 min – Practice: Find fractions equivalent to 1/2 and 1/3.

5 min – Assessment: Complete: 1/2 = __/6.

Grade 5 – Decimals

5 min – Assessment: Solve 5.35 + 2.28.

Grade 6 – Ratios and Proportions
Ratio and Proportion - Online Coding and Math Classes for Kids
Objective: Students will understand and solve simple ratios.

Materials: Colored counters and worksheets.

5 min – Introduction: Discuss comparisons, such as 2 red balls to 3 blue balls.

10 min – Teaching: Explain the ratio 2:3 and equivalent ratios such as 4:6.

10 min – Practice: Simplify 6:9 and complete 2:5 = 4:__.

5 min – Assessment: Find an equivalent ratio for 3:4.
