About Gabriela

I am a film graduate from the Universidad Central; my title is Master in Cinematography. I am currently doing a master's degree in Creative Writing, deepening the feature film script, since my passion is precisely screenwriting. In addition to the script, I have experience in the areas of direction (also assistance), production (executive and general), and audiovisual assembly (editing).

About the lesson

My classes are for those who start their career in film, or those curious who want to write scripts but doesn't know how; for those who want to be an editor but don't know how to get started. Or simply for those who want to delve into any of the areas that I offer.

I teach through work, since cinema, like any art, is learned through practice and daily doing.

In screenwriting I teach how to turn an idea or an image into a script. Its structures, such as analyzing a movie to understand those structures, the hero's journey, bibliographic references, character development and their arcs. Everything from practice. Understand our market. What makes a difference of good script from a regular one. Not only learn from the film script, but also from television, understand their differences and enrich themselves with them.

In directing, you have to know how to apply all the cinematographic knowledge to bring a script to the scene. We will explore the stages of development and production, how a director develops in each stage, the difference between directors and their ways of working, how to do a casting, what is the job of an assistant director and their tasks.

In production we will cover all stages of production: development, pre-production, post-production and distribution. Learn to differentiate the different production positions, what each one is for, the importance of each one in the stages of a film, understand the production models and why they vary according to the story. Learn from the production work, budget and shooting plan. Know about the PUFA that is necessary in Bogotá to record outdoors.

In audiovisual editing it is necessary to learn the rhythms, that each film has its own way of ''walking''. Editing is also a way of directing, in post-production. The edition is very flexible, as it can be edited for different platforms and content.

These tools are very versatile for the modern and digital world in which we develop, since these skills may be developed in other scenarios than the cinematographic one, it is simply a matter of knowing how to contribute this knowledge in different contexts (such as YouTube or TikTok).

The classes will be virtual to avoid contact, and with this, help prevent COVD-19. I am flexible with prices. In case I have to move by preference, we will discuss it.
