About Ady

I am an enthusiastic FE college Mathematics lecturer with high aspirations for learners, very passionate and motivated in teaching mathematics. My interest in this was first aroused during my high school studies when I first started helping my colleagues in mathematics, physics, chemistry, French, and English languages and I received very good feedback from them about the way I communicated complex ideas. Therefore, most of them started to achieve better after I had been helping them. Ever since my childhood mathematics has always fascinated me. I was always sure about pursuing a career in this field. I believe that my baccalaureate in mathematical sciences which is equivalent, according to NARIC UK, to AS level, will enable me to become a successful mathematics teacher up the GCSE foundation and higher level.

About the lesson

My role as a mathematics lecturer in a UK College for 5 years taught me how to appreciate the concept of "learning from teaching’’. The fact of having to explain difficult mathematics subjects in a direct and simple manner, immediately adds to my own understanding of subjects. I also learned how to tailor and deliver a lesson for different students with different needs to implement a differentiation strategy and to help them see their own potential I enjoy thought processes and problem-solving techniques in which I achieved a very high grade, but this remains insufficient to make a successful mathematics teacher. Therefore, I believe that my both qualifications Diploma in Education and Training (DET) Level 5 and Certificate in Education and Training (CET) Level 4 from Warwick University would enable me to carry on in the educational domain, which I should love to be part of. I believe that with DET I am more confident in helping and supporting students effectively in order to consolidate maths concepts for each individual. In relation to this role, my current role in the college is to teach, since September 2018, diverse groups of GCSE and Functional Skills Maths sessions, many of which include ESOL learners, SEN students, and those with a range of dyslexia, and emotional and physical issues. I have taught a wide range of learners from all walks of life using flexible, adaptable approaches to meet their needs and interests to achieve their potential. In my actual maths tutor role, I, for instance, hit the National Average in my Maths Level 2 Functional Skills (+65.7%) and in Entry Maths (+90.5%).
