About Julia
I have a 1st class degree and believe in academic excellence. This only comes about through patient teaching where the student is made to feel comfortable at their effort level and then gently stretched. In my current capacity at Cranbrook Grammar School, I teach across two disciplines; Humanities and Science. I have achieved outstanding results for both private and public students. One year 16 out of 34 of my Psychology A level students were awarded A or A* and that was when I was teaching at a non-selective school in London, so I firmly believe that achievement is possible for all, if all parties can give their best effort.

I have been a teacher for over ten years and my passion is to help students not only become great achievers academically but learn to find their confidence in an educational system that can be challenging! I focus on just want is needed for examinations and am an examiner for AQA, so am well versed in what examiners are really looking for as mark schemes are often vague and unhelpful. I am easy to get along with and enjoy creating a tailored approach for my students. I have worked with all kinds of students from gifted and talented to dyslexic students or students suffering with anxiety and depression.
I prefer to take lessons in my own home as I have a good library. Parents are welcome to sit in on sessions if they like to. I use a personal passport system (a bit like a work-log) to keep track and monitor progress. I warmly welcome all enquiries, even if your request seems to fall slightly out of my remit. (I have a full DBS check if parents would like to view my certificate.)

Julia tutored me in A level RE which included Philosophy, Ethics and New Testament studies and I went from getting Ds and Es throughout sixth form to getting an A* in my a level with 100% in one of the papers. The lessons were easy and relaxed (not to mention actually enjoyable) and timing was flexible.
