About Luke
Luke McClurg is a Private Guitar and Music Instructor who has experience in many areas and aspects of the music industry. He has studied music at multiple schools including the Berklee College of music in Boston. He graduated from Berklee in 2015 with a degree in professional music. At Berklee he studied guitar performance, music production, songwriting, arranging and audio engineering.
Throughout his schooling he has had experience playing in ensembles, jazz bands, rock bands, blues bands, and solo shows. Prior to graduating Berklee he spent a year in Austin Texas where he further honed his skills playing with legendary musicians in local blues clubs.
After graduating Berklee, Luke moved to Los Angeles California to continue his career as a musician. In Los Angeles he worked with multiple artists both as a producer and band member. He also spent time producing and engineering recording sessions at various recoding studios. His experiences have given him valuable insight not only into the intricacies of the guitar (among other instruments) but also into the roles and relationships that different instruments have with each other.

Luke has experience in many various roles of the music industry as well as having received a degree from one of the top music schools in the world. He also has an ample amount of experience teaching students, both as a private instructor and as an employee for the Los Angeles school district.
His approach to lessons revolves around the concept that music is learned best when applicable to real situations and musicians grow the most from playing with other musicians. For this reason, he looks at his students as "band members", assessing their skill level and providing fun and approachable repertoire that slowly introduces new concepts. Often, the material will come with backing track recordings at slow, medium and fast tempos. This allows students to move at their own pace and get the feel of what it is like to play with a band from the very first lesson while gradually increasing their understanding and ability on the instrument.
