About Cynthia

Hi, I’m Cynthia, a Bay Area guitarist who has been playing for 15 years and loves helping others discover the joy of making music.

There I’ve spent years mentoring junior colleagues and explaining complex subjects in a clear, approachable way. I bring the same skills to every guitar lesson: structure, patience, and a genuine commitment to each student’s progress.

My home recording studio is where I play, practice and record, and it’s also where I teach. That means you’ll learn on a professional setup, hear exactly how each part should sound, and have recordings to take home and practice with.

I know first-hand what it feels like to be a beginner: the excitement, the frustration and the breakthroughs. That keeps me an empathetic and encouraging teacher.

I’m reliable, punctual and always prepared, and I genuinely look forward to every lesson. I’d love to help you play the songs you’ve always wanted to play.

About the lesson

My lessons are built around one idea: you should be playing music you love from the very first session. Whether you are picking up a guitar for the first time, returning after years away, or looking to sharpen your technique, I tailor every lesson to your goals, your pace and your musical taste.

Who the lessons are for: beginners and intermediate players, teens and adults, on acoustic or electric guitar. No prior experience is required.

A typical lesson:

Warm-up (5–10 min): finger exercises to build strength, dexterity and accuracy
Technique (15 min): chords, strumming patterns, picking and rhythm, introduced step by step
Song work (25–30 min): learning a song you have chosen, so every new skill is applied straight away
Wrap-up (5 min): a clear, realistic practice plan for the week ahead
