About Alyse
I hold multiple degrees. I have a degree in speech and hearing sciences from The Ohio State University as well as a degree in Special Education and Reading from Capital University. I have experience teaching in a variety of environments: private clinics, virtually (for over 5 years), in the classroom, and both as an in person and virtual tutor for many years. My background includes multi-sensory techniques and is The Science of Reading aligned. I have a lot of experience working with struggling readers and students with learning differences, including dyslexia, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and dysgraphia.

I have been in the education world for over 10 years, working with students from Pre-K to 5th grade. My lessons are engaging, interactive, and are created specifically for your student using the Science of Reading methodology. A typical lesson will include: phonemic awareness, sight word practice/heart word methodology, teaching new phonics skills (following an appropriate scope and sequence) or building on new skills such as long vowels, digraphs (Example: sh, ch, th), decoding multi-syllable words, an interactive game, a quick brain break to keep everyone engaged and learning, reading a book or passage, vocabulary work, and comprehension work. I can work on the following areas as well: letter recognition, sound/letter recognition, counting syllables, short and long vowels, determining the main idea and supporting details.
