About Jack

I've always enjoyed teaching and working with others to help someone improve and excel in something they find difficult or just need that extra help with. I have extensive experience working with younger children and teenagers, working as a camp counseller in Canada, volunteering at a local school and tutoring many children to success. Tutoring maths is a real passion of mine as I had a fantastic maths tutor when I was younger who taught me not only how to understand maths, but how to enjoy it and apply it in the real world. So I started tutoring so that I could use this experience and knowledge to help someone else and hopefully show them that maths is fun, provided your taught the way which suits you best.

About the lesson

Hey, I’m Jack, I’m a recent Maths graduate. Maths is a very difficult subject, however from my years of studying Maths, I learnt that Maths is easy, when you are taught the way which fits you. Everyone sees and understands equations differently, its just about finding the way which suits you. This is why I love Maths, because of the satisfaction when you finally understand an equation you’ve been staring at for 2 hours. This massively helped me studying at G.C.S.E, through A-Level to bachelor’s degree, allowing me to love what I was revising and always strive for a higher grade. During the pandemic, I tutored GCSE Maths to several school kids, all over zoom, managing to motivate them all to improve their grades and enjoy Maths. I have just finished working as a camp counsellor in Canada, which was an amazing experience combining my two passions, working with children, and travelling. The way I would structure my lessons would be to aim to understand the way you learn first and then structure my lessons based on your learning techniques. I would discuss with you what level you’re at and which level you aim to be at, establishing goals and making sure we cover everything. When I was studying, I preferred study cards and especially past papers which is something which I will apply to my tutoring sessions.
