26 Years of Experience. One Passion: Helping Students Succeed.

Hello! I’m Dr. Michael L. Hollingsworth, and I’m passionate about helping students discover that science is something they can understand, master, and enjoy.

With 26 years of experience teaching at both the high school and college levels, I have taught and supported students in Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy & Physiology, Earth & Space Science, and other STEM subjects. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with students with a wide range of abilities and learning needs, and I believe every student can learn when the right approach is used.

My teaching philosophy is simple: I don’t just teach the answer. I teach students how to think, understand the process, and become confident problem-solvers.

My lessons combine clear explanations, real-world examples, visual learning, hands-on activities, practice problems, and individualized instruction. Whether you are struggling with a difficult Chemistry concept, preparing for an exam, taking a college science course, or simply want to strengthen your understanding, I will meet you where you are and help you move forward.

After 26 years in education, one thing continues to motivate me: seeing the moment when a student says, “Oh, now I get it!”

What if Chemistry, Physics, and Anatomy & Physiology weren’t just subjects to memorize, but tools for understanding the world around you?
I bring 26 years of experience teaching science at both the high school and college levels, with a passion for making challenging concepts understandable, relevant, and engaging. My lessons are designed to move students beyond memorizing facts and toward truly understanding how and why things work.
In my Chemistry, Physics, and Anatomy & Physiology lessons, students learn through real-world connections, hands-on investigations, problem-solving, scientific reasoning, and meaningful discussion. I use clear explanations, visual models, demonstrations, labs, and practical examples to reach learners with different abilities, backgrounds, and learning styles.
My goal is simple: Build confident students who can think like scientists, solve problems, and see the science happening all around them.
With 26 years in the classroom, I know that great science teaching is not about making the content easier. It is about making the content understandable, relevant, and worth learning.
