About Sharn
I am an enthusiastic teacher who has a passion for helping every student achieve success in their schooling. I have taught Humanities subjects for the past 4 years, across all year levels for students with varying learning abilities and styles. I have been a lead Senior Economics teacher and have also been an external marker for QCAA for the 2023 Economics cohort. It is important for me to understand how my students like to learn and to build trust so that I can cater to their learning needs. My hope is that each tutoring session targets areas that students feel less confident with, whether that is better understanding concepts, learning how to write assignments better or learning study and exam techniques.

I offer tutoring in Senior Economics and Geography (Grade 10 - 12) and Junior Humanities and Business (Grade 7 - 9), focusing on helping students build confidence and understanding in areas where they may feel less confident. My approach is centered around breaking down complex concepts into simpler, digestible parts, making it easier for students to grasp learning material. I use inquiry-based learning to encourage active engagement and ensure students truly understand the material, rather than just memorizing it. I also use the technique of chunking, where I break information into smaller parts and allow students to process it through activities, followed by checking their understanding to solidify learning. I am offering lessons that are about an hour long, but I am flexible and happy to adjust the time based on the individual needs of each student. I bring four years of teaching experience from a prestigious state high school in Brisbane, where I've had the opportunity to work with students of various year levels and learning backgrounds, within the Humanities space. Though I am new to tutoring, my classroom experience has given me a strong foundation in helping students improve their skills, whether it's for exam preparation, assignments, or simply working through challenging concepts. My lessons are designed to suit students at different levels, with a focus on supporting their academic growth in a supportive and understanding environment.
