About George

I'm fairly well travelled with a lot of life experience under my belt. Have worked in South Korea, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Australia in various capacities.

My work abroad has nearly always been teaching of some kind while work in Australia has revolved around either computer programming or transport either as a driving instructor or a driver for deliveries.

Those who have experienced my ESL teaching have told me that I come across to them in a way that often will make them laugh and strangely enough they will always remember my classes.

Now I have a small confession to make. When I was young I absolutely hated English with a passion. Even though it is my mother tongue I hated it at school. I even failed English all the way through school but did well enough in my other classes to make it through.

Learning to enjoy the language took me a long time and I hope to transmit the pleasure I now find in the language to you.

About the lesson

To all ESL students out there. I've got the English, you want the English, I will help you get the English. Previously taught for 2.5 years in South Korea both children and Adults.

I will open your minds to the glorious world of English communication that's out there, expose you to the Australian idioms that are unique to our culture, help you develop a taste for English literature so that sitting down and reading a book will be a pleasure and hit English social environments with a confidence that you've never felt before.

You will also increase your skills in writing English expression and written English comprehension so that you will be better able to communicate what you are thinking and feeling.

To achieve this we will have free conversation exercises, these will be based off articles that are found on blogs, videos found on Youtube and other locations.

As we go through these we will expand our vocabulary and gain a deeper understanding of words that are used.

Lessons will generally for between forty minutes and an hour at a time. Exact time frame is up for negotiation.

Lessons can be adapted for any age level. For example The concept of time can be taught as follows.

A: Learning to read a clock in English at elementary level
B: Understanding timezones on a global earth at high school
C: Discussing how atomic clocks operate and how they're used modern technology at adult level.

Lessons will have plans and goals.
For example the elementary child will be able to look at the clock and tell me what the time is in English.
A secondary student will be able to describe in English how they will calculate a time based mathematical operation.

All goals and targets will be based upon observable behaviour as it is your observable behaviour that enables us to measure outcomes.
