About Arun

I began informally tutoring students in 2006 when I was doing Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry at the University of Leicester. I first began tutoring at my house. I did a few home visits as well. It was this experience that provided me with the insight that I enjoyed and excelled at tutoring. I have been working as a private tutor in Leicestershire for last 10 years.

About the lesson

I am able to assess the weakness of a student within few minutes of interviewing the student to find out why they are struggling in school or college, and then provide tutoring to meet their particular needs. I also believe I am very good at identifying typically confusing areas for students. As a tutor I believe one-to-one tuition can be a very effective method of achieving higher standards. I am skilled at assessing people and determining what is the most effective way that individuals learn. This skill is a key idea for me and for the tutoring service. I have always searched for the best way to teach the individual. When the person does not respond well to one of my teaching methods, I immediately change my method and look for a more effective way. The collection of exams over the provides the tutoring service with a number of examples for use in tutoring session and to better prepare students for upcoming tests. I encourage students to make a realistic plan to reduce stress during exams. I understand that different people lean in different ways, so classes are taught on various levels. My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep interesting, understanding and confidence in learning. My approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style. If a student prefers to be taught in a different way, then I wouldn't hesitate to change my method to suit them. I am happy to work with any student's needs, whether that be topping up their existing knowledge, or starting from scratch. In other words, choose the best and most attractive way for specific students, making them want to learn, but not be forced to learn. Encouragement is the most important parameter in my tutoring philosophy. At the beginning, learning new things is fairly difficult, and students easily give up. In this case, encouragement and patience are very important for a tutor. I always find some strategies or tricks to make the teaching more interesting and relaxed. Moreover, my personalized attention focuses on the specific needs of individual students. I am fun, energetic, and have a certain stage presence that makes it interesting to attend my tutoring sessions.
