About Anushka
I'm a PGDE Primary student at the University of Glasgow. I previously was a tutor with Explore Learning, and I’ve gained a lot of skills in teaching maths and english concepts. I am confident in teaching, and keeping lessons engaging for young people.
I worked as a support worker for the 2 years, largely working with adults with autism, and I've volunteered at a few helplines. I'm an open communicator, and am highly supportive. I really enjoyed both English and History whilst at school, and I want to make sure that learning isn't a tedious task so a supportive learning environment is my top priority. I studied English and History to Advanced Higher level, and received As in both. I also did Higher Classical Studies, and did some Latin and Greek at school, so I'm happy to talk about that as well! I'm also able to help with personal statements as well.
I've helped to lead training groups for a mental health helpline a number, and have led the entire cohort of trainees through virtual training twice in the past year. We successfully trained around 60 people total on the ins and outs of running a mental health helpline. I also have previously worked at an after school club, and have helped children from the ages of 5-11 with homework during those sessions.

I'd like to use the first session to explore different learning methods with your child. My approach to learning is communicative, and I'm open to consistent feedback from you and your child about what is working and what isn't. Ideally sessions would be a minimum of 1 hour, and a maximum of 2 hours, as beyond this can be exhausting for your child. I'd like to approach each session with a positive mindset, and so I'd like to avoid behavioural markers like sticker charts/star charts, unless these specifically work for your child. I've worked as a support worker, and have experience as a ChildLine volunteer, so my focus would largely be on maintaining a supportive and positive learning environment to ensure maximum focus and enthusiasm for the subject.

She's also so cheerful and starts off each lesson with really good energy while maintaining her professionalism.
