About Johnpaul
I’m an experienced educator who is passionate about helping students build confidence and truly understand what they’re learning. My approach is patient, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s individual needs and learning style.
I believe tutoring should be more than simply finding the right answer. My goal is to help students understand the “why” behind the material so they can approach problems independently and with confidence. I use real-world examples and creative approaches to make challenging concepts easier to understand and relevant to each student.
I take pride in creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace. Ultimately, I want my students to reach the point where they can teach the concept back to me because being able to explain something clearly is one of the best signs that you truly understand it.

I believe the best way to teach mathematics is to make it meaningful to the student. I find creative ways to help students connect with the material and adapt my approach to their individual learning style, goals, and interests. For example, teaching college athletes was particularly rewarding because I learned to explain mathematics in ways that connected with their experiences. When you speak math in a student’s language, everything can change.
My lessons are interactive and focused on understanding, not simply memorizing formulas or getting the right answer. I typically begin by identifying what the student understands, where they are struggling, and what they want to accomplish. From there, we work through concepts together, practice with targeted problems, and build confidence along the way.
Ultimately, my goal is for the student to be able to teach the topic back to me. I believe that if you truly understand something, you should be able to explain it clearly to someone else. When a student can teach the concept back in their own words, I know we have moved beyond memorization to genuine understanding.
