About Anna
I am a fourth year Medical student studying at Imperial College London. I am the eldest of many siblings, and my family home is an old farmhouse in North Yorkshire. I am a very musical person, with a Grade 8 in violin and a diploma in singing. My education was equally split between state school and boarding school, so I have experience with the differences in teaching at both. I am currently doing a BSc Research year at Imperial, specialising in Remote medicine. I have spent a vast amount of time in hospitals and GP surgeries when on my clinical placements, which has taught me a lot about interacting with young people, especially when they are stressed or anxious. I am very hard working and enjoy learning, however I often found it difficult to concentrate when I was at school, so I definitely empathise with how young minds can find school frustrating!

I firmly believe in an interactive teaching style where I encourage students to ask questions and to think for themselves as much as possible. With this in mind, I will help them to work through problems and ideas with a step-by-step process, allowing my students to not only develop their understanding, but also their logic and problem-solving skills. I like to utilise past paper questions to practise exam technique, and I enjoy discussing additional interesting learning points to engage my students, and to ensure they have a fully developed and well-rounded understanding of their subject. My lessons tend to be an hour long, however I have given up to two hour lessons (with a short break in the middle), and as short as 30min lessons. I prefer to keep my lessons shorter than 1.5 hours, as it is easier for my students to maintain focus. I have a lot of experience tutoring GCSE and A Levels, as well as working with small children. I have tutored in English Language, English Literature, Chemistry, Biology and Maths, with my students either gaining top grades, or greatly improving their grades after my time with them. I also have a recent DBS certificate and a certificate in First Aid for both adults and children.
