About Leonie
Hello! I’m Ms. Haughton-Smith, a passionate and globally experienced Business Studies teacher dedicated to helping students understand how business connects to the real world. Over the past 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching in Jamaica, China, the USA, and the UK, experiences that have enriched my teaching with creativity, inclusivity, and global awareness. I hold a Master’s in Education (Innovation in Learning and Teaching) from the University of South Wales and a Bachelor of Education in Business and Computer Studies from the University of Technology, Jamaica. These qualifications have deepened my belief that learning should be engaging, relevant, and empowering. In my classroom, I aim to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a spirit of entrepreneurship. I want every student to leave my lessons not only prepared for exams, but also ready to think critically, lead confidently, and make a positive impact in their future careers and communities.

In my Business Studies lessons, I focus on making learning practical, engaging, and relevant to the real world. I believe students learn best when they can connect classroom ideas to everyday life and future careers, so I use real business examples, case studies, and interactive projects to bring topics to life. My lessons encourage students to think creatively, work collaboratively, and develop problem-solving and entrepreneurial skills that prepare them for success beyond school. Whether we’re exploring marketing strategies, managing finances, or launching a mock business, I aim to make every session exciting and meaningful. Above all, I create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels confident to share ideas, take risks, and grow — not just as learners, but as future leaders.
