About Scarlett
I am a USA-based female Music Theory tutor with 7 years of online live teaching experience helping K-12 students, high school learners, and college first-year students improve theory understanding, songwriting skills, and music reading confidence. I completed my Master of Arts in Music Theory and Composition with training focused on beginner-friendly instruction and interactive learning methods. I enjoy helping students understand difficult concepts through simple explanations and creative lesson activities that make music learning more comfortable and enjoyable!
I received the “Golden Composer Vision Award” and the “Starlight Harmony Scholar Medal” for excellence in interactive Music Theory teaching and beginner songwriting mentorship programs. My specialties include Songwriting, Musicology, Harmony Training, Beginner Orchestration, and Melody Writing for young musicians. I focus on creating lessons that are supportive, organized, and easy to understand so students can build confidence while improving their creative and technical skills step-by-step!
Outside teaching, I enjoy watercolor journaling, attending orchestra concerts, collecting handwritten music books, practicing meditation, and traveling to small mountain towns across the United States. These hobbies inspire creativity and help me bring calm and positive energy into my classes. I always work to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable exploring music ideas and asking questions confidently!

My online one-to-one live Music Theory lessons are designed for K-12 students, high school learners, college first-year students, and all age groups who want a simple and supportive way to understand music more deeply. I know many students feel nervous about Music Theory because it can seem confusing at first, so I focus on turning complex musical concepts into easy-to-understand explanations through interactive teaching methods. Students can share school assignments, theory topics, notation exercises, songwriting ideas, or music projects before class so I can prepare personalized lessons that match their goals and learning level perfectly!
I teach Songwriting, Musicology, Chord Construction, Rhythm Reading, Harmony Training, Ear Training, Melody Development, Music Reading, Scale Systems, Orchestration Basics, and Beginner Composition Skills. My teaching style focuses on making lessons interactive, comfortable, and enjoyable so students can understand theory concepts without feeling overwhelmed. I use examples, guided exercises, listening activities, and creative projects to help students connect theory with real musical performance and songwriting experiences. I believe students learn faster when lessons feel practical and easy to follow!
During classes, I encourage students to ask questions freely because open communication creates stronger understanding and confidence. I provide structured exercises, notation guidance, rhythm practice, and songwriting activities to help students improve gradually and comfortably. I also help students preparing for school exams, beginner composition projects, introductory college theory courses, and creative music activities. My lessons focus on patience, encouragement, and simple explanations so students can enjoy learning theory while steadily improving their skills!
My goal is to help students feel more confident and creative with music while understanding how musical structure works naturally. I enjoy helping students discover that Music Theory does not need to feel stressful or complicated when it is taught clearly and supportively. My online lessons are interactive, beginner friendly, and designed to help students improve comfortably at their own pace while enjoying the creative side of music learning!
