About Sydney

What sets me apart is my ability to break down difficult topics into understandable steps, while fostering a supportive and judgment-free space. I take my role seriously, not just as an educator, but as a mentor who cares about students’ growth both in and outside of school. I’m reliable, responsive, and always prepared, with personalized plans that reflect each student’s goals and learning style. My students know they can count on me for structure, encouragement, and results. As an Ivy League student, I understand the pressures of a purely academic environment, and will do my best to make tutoring sessions lighthearted and effective.

About the lesson

My teaching method centers on active learning, patience, and personalized instruction. I use a student-led approach, beginning each session by identifying where the student is confident and where they need support. I incorporate questioning techniques that promote critical thinking and retention, and adapt explanations to suit visual, auditory, or hands-on learners. For subjects like writing, math, or policy, I often break concepts into smaller parts and guide students through structured practice before gradually releasing responsibility to them. What sets me apart is the way I connect academic material to real-life relevance and student interests. I focus not only on improving performance but also on helping students build confidence and independent learning habits. My background in policy, teaching, and research also allows me to offer interdisciplinary perspectives and strong writing mentorship, especially for humanities and social science students. I strive to make lessons engaging, reflective, and responsive to each student’s unique pace and goals. I am also more easily able to connect to students due my age!
