Why might you choose me as your tutor?
I am a Highly Qualified Licensed Mathematics Teacher and Licensed Massachusetts School Principal with over a decade of tutoring experience.
There is no challenge too big or small for us to tackle together. I have worked with over 35 families for more than 1500 hours of direct service tutoring at all grade levels, often staying with a family for several years as their student goes through high school.
I have worked both in classrooms and one-on-one with a large variety of students, including those qualifying as academically gifted, English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and students with severe medical conditions.
The student's experience is the most important part of a tutoring relationship. My first priority is getting to know the student's interests, skills and knowledge, and needs so that I can create a learning experience that is best suited for the individual. I am very versatile in adjusting to individual student needs and responding to learning habits and preferences. Previous students have experienced improved confidence in skills, higher test scores, greater understanding of subject matter, and increased enjoyment in mathematics learning.
When we are tutoring, I encourage students to reach beyond what they think they are capable of doing. They are often surprised at how much they can accomplish.
Why choose an instructional expert for tutoring?
I bring an expert understanding of math teaching and learning as a one-on-one instructional designer, classroom teacher, and school-level instructional leader. I hold a B.S. in Environmental Sciences and Mathematics Education from UNC-Chapel Hill and an Ed.M. in School Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a professional certification as a Mathematics Teacher in both North Carolina and Massachusetts.
As a classroom teacher, I taught in the highest performing high school in North Carolina and scored in the top quartile of all teachers in the state every year. I create a loving, structured, and high-expectations environment for students to learn, and they students consistently performed at or above grade level regardless of state-predicted results.
At a classroom level, I taught Precalculus, Geometry, Trigonometry, Common Core Math 1, 2, and 3, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and AP Statistics.
My most recent work is as a Math Instructional Coach in Massachusetts, a role in which I supported all high school math teachers in my district to improve instructional practices and student learning outcomes. My coaching was rooted in best practices in learning and brain science, culturally responsive teaching, coaching methodology, and team facilitation practices.
The most rewarding part of tutoring is the opportunity to get to know the dreams and aspirations of students, and help them realize those dreams through our work together.
School can be a source of stress and frustration; tutoring with me can be a source of empowerment and time to reframe the schooling experience.

My teaching is student-centered and co-constructed with student input. I get to know the student's needs and skills first before creating a learning experience personalized to them as an individual. As a certified teacher and instructional leader with 10+ years of tutoring experience, I bring my deep knowledge of content standards and learning expectations for a student's academic progress and personal success.
I always make sure students understand the content deeply and can comfortably move between conceptual understanding, practical application, and procedural fluency.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
She is great, friendly, and patient. She is very knowledgeable and very flexible. She also accommodates to future lessons not just what is current. I highly recommend her.
Jackclyn is the best tutor I have ever had. I really struggled with trigonometry when my math teacher explained it to me. It was hard for me to understand SOH COH TOA and how to relate that to the geometry I was only so-so at. Working with Jackclyn trained me to not only understand geometry and trigonometry, but to love it. I now understand how cool math is and am excited to go to Math class. She is the absolute coolest!!!
