My teaching method and techniques
I don't believe in memorizing without understanding. My approach is student-centered, practical, and conversational.
How I teach:
1. Learn by doing: I use the 70/30 rule — you speak, practice, and participate 70% of the time. I guide the other 30%. We learn grammar and theory THROUGH real conversation, not the other way around.
2. Personalized learning: No two students are the same. In our first class, I assess your level, your goals, and your learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) and I create a plan just for you.
3. Positive correction: I don't interrupt to correct every mistake. I take notes while you speak and we review errors together with clear examples, so you gain confidence without fear of speaking.
4. Real-life tools: I use games, short videos, articles, songs, role-plays, and everyday situations. You will learn the language/subject as you would actually use it in real life.
My goal is that you not only understand, but that you can USE what you learn from day one.
A typical lesson plan
Every lesson is structured but flexible. A 60-minute lesson usually looks like this:
1. Warm-up & Review (5-10 min): We start with casual conversation and a quick review of the last lesson to activate your memory.
2. Introduction of new concept (15 min): I present the topic of the day with clear examples, visuals, and simple explanations. For example: past tense, essay structure, conversation for travel, etc.
3. Guided Practice (20 min): This is the core. We practice together through exercises, dialogues, Q&A, or problem-solving. I guide you step-by-step.
4. Free Production & Feedback (10-15 min): You create something on your own — you tell a story, you answer a question, you solve a problem. I give you constructive, encouraging feedback and a small challenge for next time.
After each lesson, I send you a summary with vocabulary, corrections, and optional homework. No heavy, boring homework — only useful practice.
What sets me apart as a tutor
1. Patience + Real Connection: I genuinely care about your progress. I'm very patient, empathetic, and I create a safe space where you can make mistakes without judgment.
2. I was a learner too: I know what it's like to feel stuck. I explain things in a simple, clear way because I've been on your side.
3. Focus on Confidence: My priority isn't just that you pass an exam, but that you feel confident using what you learn. Many of my students tell me they finally dared to speak after my classes.
4. Organized, reliable, and motivating: I am always prepared, punctual, and I celebrate every small win with you to keep you motivated.
