About Max

I have completed my legal studies at King's College London. I spent a year abroad at the University of San Diego law school where I got a grounding in the American legal system. Throughout my university education I have consistently performed at a high 2:1 level with the occasional first, the standard most law firms look for when hiring trainees. I have completed courses in criminal law, European law, public law, contract law, tort law, property law, trusts, art law, law and social theory, American tax law, American employment law, intellectual property law as well as others. On top of this, I have been a finalist in University mooting competitions and have taken specialised courses in areas like negotiation. Outside of school, I have worked with lawyers in the United States: the first was a specialist in personal injury, bankruptcy and general defence for plaintiffs. The second was a music lawyer who is responsible for making deals for artists. I understand the skills a law student needs to pass their university exams in the UK and have great insight for anyone wishing to learn more about the legal system in America.

About the lesson

Our lessons will depend greatly on the student's needs. If, for example, the student wants to revise contract law I can break down the entire subject into topics, highlighting key cases, statutes and go through problem areas, explaining the fundamental elements and concepts as required. If the student knows areas in particular within the subject, I can narrow down my teaching approach and give detailed explanations of the substantive law and how to apply it in reality. In each lesson, I will prioritise focus on typical exam questions, be those problem or essay questions, and ensure the student understands what they will be facing at the end of the year. I am also able to go through exam or essay technique, rather than simply teaching the law. I will break down effective ways to structure responses, referencing and ensuring the question is answered properly. For those making applications, I can give advice on how to put together your application, the kind of information you should be including and what more you can do to increase your chances of success.
