About Benjamin

Hi! My name is Benjamin Van Huffel. I am French-American, born in France and raised in Washington D.C. I attended a French international school until 9th grade, at which time I switched over to an American school system. This is where I initially found myself enjoying the role as tutor, helping my fellow classmates improve their skills in the French language.

Since then, I have earned a degree in ecology and evolutionary biology and I am currently starting a career in UX design. My passion for helping others has always been present. I tutored French while obtaining my degree, as well as being a free resource for friends and family when it came to helping them with their writing skills.

Writing is one of my favorite hobbies. I am currently half-way through writing a non-fiction novel and enjoy submitting works to writing competitions quite frequently. Writing is an accessible form of expression we are all capable of creating. Being able to create something that reflects your personal experiences or the creative imaginings of your mind is a skill I believe everyone should have. In short, every story deserves the opportunity to be told and I would be honored to help you tell yours.

About the lesson

I aim to tailor my lessons based on your current capabilities and goals. Our first free session will be focused on providing you with easy to intermediate writing exercises, in order to best understand where you currently are. From there, I will get a better sense of what your goals are and the specific skills you seek to obtain on your journey with me.

Starting from our second meeting, we will begin addressing your most immediate concerns and build a plan that best suits both your short-term and long-term goals.

Writing can be a daunting task for many but, like mathematics, once you understand the formulas the rest will come naturally. Whether you're seeking to get better grades in school, learning how to write in English for the first time, or simply wanting to better your skills as a writer, I can get you there.

My aim is to be a resource for you. I will never hold you to any obligations or expectations. Simply, you will be getting out as much as you are putting in. Should you choose to work with me, I assure you to be a friendly face on your journey to becoming a great writer!
