About James Char

Hello! My name is James Char, and I am a Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT) with a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics from the University of Cebu, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude.

I am the Founder and Marketing Head of DAR Math Academy Online Tutorials, where I have helped students strengthen their mathematical skills through personalized and engaging online instruction. In addition to teaching Mathematics, I have experience as an ESL Teacher, Chess Coach, and Guidance Advocate, allowing me to understand different learning styles and support students both academically and personally.

I believe that every student has the potential to excel in Mathematics with the right guidance, encouragement, and learning strategies. My teaching approach is patient, interactive, and student-centered, making even challenging concepts easier to understand. I focus on building confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills rather than simply memorizing formulas.

As an educator, I am committed to maintaining professionalism, preparing well-structured lessons, and providing a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.

About My Lessons

Hello! I'm James Char, a Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT), University of Cebu Magna Cum Laude graduate in Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics, and Founder of DAR Math Academy Online Tutorials.

I believe that every student can succeed in Mathematics when lessons are engaging, well-structured, and tailored to their individual learning needs. My goal is not only to improve grades but also to develop confidence, critical thinking, and a genuine appreciation for Mathematics. I teach with patience, encouragement, and a positive, God-centered attitude that helps students enjoy learning.

My online lessons follow a carefully planned 45-minute structure:

1. Introduction (3 minutes)
We begin with a warm greeting, a quick review of the previous lesson, and a motivational conversation to help students feel comfortable and ready to learn.

2. Interactive Activity (8 minutes)
Students participate in fun and engaging activities using the IXL Learning Portal, games, or guided exercises to activate prior knowledge and build interest in the lesson.

3. Analysis (2 minutes)
I ask thought-provoking questions that encourage students to analyze patterns, explain their thinking, and strengthen their mathematical reasoning.

4. Discussion and Guided Practice (15 minutes)
This is the heart of the lesson. I use the "I Do – We Do – You Do" teaching strategy:

I Do: I clearly explain the concept with step-by-step examples.
We Do: We solve problems together while discussing each step.
You Do: Students solve problems independently as I provide guidance and feedback.

5. Application (5 minutes)
Students apply what they have learned by solving real-world problems or practice questions that reinforce the lesson.

6. Values Integration and Reflection (2 minutes)
I conclude each lesson with a reflective question that connects Mathematics to values such as perseverance, responsibility, honesty, critical thinking, and wise decision-making.

7. Parent Session Notes
After every session, I provide parents with a brief progress report that includes:
