About Donald

Dr. Donald M. Ephraim is a distinguished music educator, conductor, and institutional leader, celebrated for his pioneering role in advancing Western classical music education in Tamil Nadu. He is the Founder and Director of The Coimbatore School of Music (TCSM), established in 2007, which has grown into the region’s definitive hub for Trinity College London exam preparation, performance training, and inclusive music education.

His musical journey began as a choir boy at the age of 11, and he continues to serve as organist at All Souls’ Church, Coimbatore, a role he has held since his youth. Over the years, he has nurtured choirs, ensembles, and orchestras from the ground up, conducting at institutions such as Bishop Appasamy College of Arts & Sciences and performing with ensembles including the Tirunelveli Chamber Orchestra and the Coimbatore String Ensemble.

Dr. Ephraim holds a PhD in Environmental Economics, along with M.Phil, M.A., and B.Ed degrees from Bharathiar University. His rare blend of scholarly rigor and artistic mastery sets him apart as both an academician and a musician.
