Find your basketball trainer in Ajax

Basketball builds on seven core skills that every beginner should know.

• Ball handling: keeping control of the ball at different speeds and directions.
• Passing and catching: delivering the ball accurately to a teammate in the right spot.
• Shooting technique: aligning the elbow, wrist and follow-through for a consistent shot.
• Defence and rebounding: staying low, tracking the ball and boxing out for position.

A private tutor breaks down each skill step by step and speeds up your progress.

Basketball tutors in Ajax typically charge $31/h.

The cost depends on:

• Your current level (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
• The coach's expertise and playing background
• The package you choose (one-off or regular)
• Whether it's one-on-one or group training

Many tutors offer package discounts for booking multiple lessons.

Basketball's very first rule dates back to 1891, when Dr. James Naismith wrote out the original thirteen rules of the game.

• The first rule allowed players to throw the ball in any direction, with one or both hands.
• At the time, dribbling did not exist yet, so passing was the only way to move the ball.
• It encouraged teamwork over individual play, as players could not carry the ball themselves.
• Today's dribbling and travelling rules trace their roots back to this first rule.

A tutor can explain how these original rules shaped the modern game, not just how to play it.
