I am offering private drawing lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced students who want to apply for Canterbury Fine Art or Algonquin College Animation programs or any individuals who wants to develop their drawing skills further. The sessions include working with variety of media such as pencils, pastels, watercolors, charcoals and introduction to the basic theory of perspective.
I teach theory, principles and methods of Fine Visual Arts and then work with students on practical application of them in various forms of Visual Art, media, techniques etc. I customize classes to the level of advancement and individual needs of a student - from a beginner or a child to an advanced student.
I am approaching each student based on their level of knowledge, experience in drawing or painting.
I believe anyone can learn to paint and draw. Students will be given an overview of the various mediums and techniques used by artists throughout the ages with some additional anecdotal information and art historical facts, storytelling and contextual references with examples shown in each lesson.
My teaching methods combine coaching ,some formal authority role by showing students what they need to know and promoting self-learning to help students develop creative thinking skills and improvisation that leads to self-actualization. This style trains students to ask questions and helps develop skills to find answers and solutions through exploration.
In order to make art, I believe it is important to have an understanding of the materials and the way to use them. It is also essential to have a background of the history of art and comprehend the evolution of the techniques, concepts and approaches to art throughout history. The purpose of the classes is to give the students the tools to explore art and their ideas in their own way.
My teaching methods are practical and organized, and follow a simple lesson plan. They are flexible to the artistic level of the client. My past experience with teaching has been to small groups of youths, wherein we learned about: breaking down objects into basic shapes and volumes, basic colour theory and tones, the basics of character design, and much more.
I like to break down the steps to creating a piece to a level that is achievable by the student. I like to connect with my students and work with them to discover what their passion is and the reason for their creative journey! I am happy to work with children and adults.
