About Aleena

Hi! I am an experienced, compassionate tutor with a personal approach to each student. I help my students achieve their potential, whatever level they are at, through tailored learning both during and outside of the lesson, using a variety of resources: practice exams, analysis of sample essays, and, most crucially, their curiosity. My passion for creative writing and literature makes teaching an array of novels and poetry of all different levels all the more exhilarating.

Having taught part-time for over 3 years, after graduating I now work as a full-time tutor in English Language and Literature, Philosophy, History and Maths at GCSE and A-Level. I also love to help students with the EPQ and university applications and am happy to edit and advise with personal statements if needed.

Education:

UCL - Philosophy and Data Science (BSc PPE pathway), 1st class honours

A-level - History, English Literature, Maths, EPQ, A*s.

More about me:
I am currently travelling full-time and attending writing school. I'm interested in natural medicines, yoga and film and am always reading something! In a few years, I plan to get a master's degree in Philosophy and Literature. I look forward to meeting you!

About the lesson

The most important aspect of teaching, for me, is engaging students in the subjects they study and tailoring classes to their learning styles and preferences. No material or technique is going to stick if you really, really hate what you do :) That's why I ensure that each lesson is both practical and interactive, with a lot of space and time for students to ask questions and receive feedback on past work.

We will take time, in the first class, to create a study plan and identify weak areas that you want to work on. These are always flexible and change according to how comfortable you feel with certain topics! My goal is to both teach material and help you feel comfortable in an exam environment, so we will also do a lot of review and practice work :)
