About Sylvia

Hello, my name is Szilvia.

I am a Mathematics and Physics tutor with a background in Biomedical Engineering (Biomedical Engineering), having studied at the Universities of Stuttgart and Tübingen in Germany. My studies gave me a broad and applied understanding of scientific subjects, particularly mathematics and physics.

During my university years, I discovered what has since become my passion: teaching mathematics. I focus on helping students develop clear problem-solving methods, strong exam technique, and the ability to approach unfamiliar questions with confidence.

I specialise in A-level Mathematics, IB Maths (AA/AI), and GCSE Physics, supporting students in building strong foundations and improving their exam performance through structured, method-based teaching.

I grew up in Hungary and attended a bilingual secondary school in Hungarian and English, before completing my university studies in German. Over the past three years, I have taught students across Europe, which has given me experience with different curricula including GCSE, A-level, and IB programmes. I offer lessons in English, German, and Hungarian, and adapt my teaching approach to each student’s level, goals, and learning style.

My aim is not only to improve grades, but to help students become confident, independent thinkers who understand how to learn and solve problems effectively.

About the lesson

My teaching philosophy is that students do not need to be the best in their class, but rather the best version of themselves. I deliberately set my expectations slightly above typical school standards to encourage growth, build confidence, and help students realise their full potential.
I teach online via Google-Meet and understand that some parents and students may feel uncertain about this format, especially after the experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, when online learning was often unstructured and ineffective. For this reason, I have developed a clear and structured system that fully utilises digital tools, ensuring that students experience lessons that are just as engaging, interactive, and effective as in-person teaching.
