About Jelane
Hi! Nice running into you here––I'm Jelane.
I am an active scholar and artist based in New York City. I hold a Bachelor's in Comparative Literature from Hunter College and a Master's in Museum Studies from New York University. I have four years of experience working with preschoolers–adolescents in subjects of English, History, and the Visual Arts.
As a teacher, I believe that patience is my most precious quality. Students are more likely to persist when they feel comfortable moving at their own pace. I consider my students' learning strategies and challenges and take the time to explain topics and give feedback that they will understand.
Though my 13-year-old self might not see eye to eye, I love to learn. I am a student by nature as well. My academic environment has been rich with art and philosophy, motivating my creative pedagogy and inspiring others with knowledge and the power of learning.
