About Daniel
I have a broad range of teaching history. My teaching experience started off as a swimming instructor/lifeguard from 2014-2018, in which I was able to get younger students out of their shell and significantly more comfortable in the water. I have also worked as a teaching assistant for introductory biology laboratories at the college level. Most recently, I have worked with Our Project In Hawai'i's Intertidal as an intern who aided in leading a citizen science project monitoring algae and invertebrate populations. Through this experience, I was able to teach younger students about taxonomy and intertidal biology while coordinating and interpreting data. I currently work as a research assistant studying the Hawaiian Bobtail Squid at Kewalo Marine Laboratory (associated with UH Manoa).

My teaching style involves a lot of hands on and visual learning, but I do understand there exist a wide range of learning styles and am willing to adapt and incorporate different teaching methods in order to meet a student's needs. I believe in teaching ways of thinking about and tackling problems versus the memorization of facts and am patient with students to help guide them through the thinking process that will ultimately lead students to retain knowledges and properly think about fundamental biological concepts.
