Hi - my name is Jen & I recently graduated with a master's degree in English with an emphasis in composition and rhetoric. I have multiple years of experience both teaching and tutoring and I am confident and comfortable helping you with any writing needs you might have. I am passionate about helping students/scholars/professionals use their writing to make an impact (whatever that might look like for you!). I like to start lessons off with discussing for a few minutes what your specific needs are (what areas you feel most need improvement). I can meet you wherever you're at in your process--whether that is reading retention, brainstorming, organizing your essay, later stage development, or final edits. I can also help with non academic writing (resume, cover letter, etc). Although English (literature, etc) is my specialty, I can tutor essay development for nearly any subject.
After reading/going through your work with you, we will first focus on what IS working (aka what you're doing right!) - then we will talk about areas where you can improve. I will usually show you a few examples of how to improve in a certain area, then have you try your own edits/skills/strategies with my guidance.
I am comfortable tutoring writing at almost any level - anywhere from middle school through graduate school (to the master's level).
