About Ryan Michael

In lectures I learnt the authoritative cases that created the rules of law. To a lesser extent, the legislation that created rules too. Tutorials were for learning how to apply those rules to hypothetical legal problems .

The occasional oral assessment tested my ability to recount those rules and our reasoning in verbal form. I answered written exam questions based on years of previous exam papers.

In the Master of Laws , a year-long course after the LLB, I learnt to write legal letters, interviewing clients, negotiating, mediating, and presenting a persuasive argument. This is how law school is done.

That is where my multidisciplinary approach comes into play, engineering, law and business. Teaching works on a mental, physical, emotional level, as well as, on the energetic level. It is important to always go a layer deeper into your ability. Allowing you see within yourself and remove blockages. Beautiful and powerful tools to work with.

About the lesson

I teach lessons that are truly tailor made to my student needs. The way I teach will be informed by students, and their abilities. The way I structure my questions. The way I ask the questions. All driven by that ability. While they are in their development of legal thinking.

My experience has given me unique insight into how teachers and lecturers think. What they would like to see from their students.

I aim to help students over the long term, by discussing revision strategies, and memory aids, to ensure that topics covered in sessions will remain fresh and exam ready.

An exam is not only a test of what you can do, it is also a test of what you can remember. Teaching is a two way process.

If any stumbling blocks have been encountered, I will use a range of questioning techniques to get to the bottom of the problem. A firm foundation will be laid, on which to build even more knowledge. Effective questioning is a sign of a successful teacher. One of the key benefits of online teaching is having the opportunity to assess a student knowledge in a relaxed, calm and non judgmental environment.

I aim to inspire, and increase confidence, with legal study.
