About Jacob
I have a deep love of learning and teaching. During my undergraduate courses, I was able to be a teaching assistant where I assisted in teaching Mediterranean history and academic writing to college students. I also taught a three week introduction course to biblical Hebrew. During that time, I worked as a volunteer tutor where I led tutoring sessions in Greek, Hebrew, Writing, as well as history from multiple different time periods. I am currently attending the University of Chicago in order to be a professor of Ancient History, specifically the History of Science. I am interested in being a professor because of my love of teaching and helping students grasp abstract concepts.

My teaching method is solely centered around helping the student learn how to critically engage in source material. To do this, I ensure that we move at the perfect speed that helps push my students, but not overwhelm them. This is a difficult balance to maintain, but it is crucial. The maintenance of that balance is hinged upon my ability to work with my students by listening to them in order to see where they are at and aiding them from there. My lessons are geared towards ANY age that is willing to learn. My previous tutoring experience has been to college students, but I have worked with High School and Middle School age kids as well.
