About Priya

I have a Master’s degree in Data Engineering and Analytics from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and a background in Computer Science and Engineering from an IIT in India.

During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for courses covering AI graph-search methods and Programming Paradigms, where I supported students with topics including algorithms, Haskell and Prolog. I also have three years of professional software engineering experience.

My academic interests are strongly mathematical, especially probability, linear algebra, machine learning and computer vision. Computer vision is my main area of specialization, and probability is one of my favorite subjects to teach.

I have been around teaching from an early age. One of my parents is a retired mathematics professor, while the other began as a physics teacher and later became a high school headmaster in India. I also spent time tutoring students voluntarily while growing up.

I was active in mathematics competitions and Olympiad-style exams during school, so I can also help students develop stronger problem-solving strategies for competitive mathematics.

I enjoy working with students who want to understand why a method works, not just how to reproduce it. My goal is to make difficult technical ideas clear, structured and manageable.

About the lesson

My teaching focuses on understanding and problem-solving rather than memorizing formulas or patterns.

I usually begin by identifying what the student already understands and where their reasoning starts to break down. From there, I explain the concept using intuition and concrete examples before moving to the formal method. I then work through a few problems with the student and finish by having them solve similar problems independently.

A typical lesson may include:

• a short diagnostic or review
• explanation of the core concept
• worked examples of increasing difficulty
• independent problem solving with feedback
• exam or assignment strategy where relevant

I teach:

• Middle school and high school students, especially Grades 7–12
• Ontario high school mathematics and computer science
• Students preparing for Math Olympiads and other competitive mathematics exams
• Undergraduate university students, especially first- and second-year courses
• Advanced undergraduates in selected areas such as probability, algorithms, AI, machine learning and computer vision

My strongest subjects include calculus, linear algebra, probability, statistics, discrete mathematics, algorithms, C/C++, Python, Haskell, Prolog, AI, machine learning, data science and computer vision.

I have worked as a university Teaching Assistant for AI graph-search methods and Programming Paradigms, including Haskell and Prolog.
