About Nisha

I have been a tutor for more than 10 years. I remain professional but tutor like a friend so that the student feels they are in a comfortable and safe space. They should know that it is okay to make mistakes, and with my approach, I help them with being more confident in the material they need tutoring. The students I have previously tutored have all successfully succeeded in the courses I tutored them with which I feel proud of them for their growth and hope for continued success. I am now a Masters graduate working in healthcare, but I have always had a passion for teaching and hope to continue to inspire future students.

About the lesson

I have taught students from grades K-12 in predominantly Math and Reading/English and sometimes with Sciences and Test Prep. My method is dependent on the subject and how the student learns. I observe the best method for the student and approach the lessons in a manner that will allow them to best learn and apply the knowledge. I review material but also do lots of practice questions to ensure student's understanding. I am patient and am willing to review material as many times as the student needs to grasp and retain the information. A typical lesson plan will be planning out how the time with the student will be spent (i.e. what are the areas of concern, where do we need to practice more, etc). Then I assess student’s level of confidence for topics to review and observe accuracy of responses to questions. This is how I base the structure in which I teach to ensure students can effectively learn the material.
