Hi, my name is Oliver Nelson and I am 25 years old. I graduated from Cardiff University with a Master’s degree in Mathematics in September 2023. I enjoy learning about Maths but also have an affinity for teaching it too.
I encourage students to come to me with questions or topics they are struggling with and then use the subsequent lessons to help them gain a solid understanding in the area they are finding difficult. This eventually not only results in them being able to answer their initial question, but also them having the skills to be able to tackle harder questions in that same topic. I didn’t enjoy Maths until late GCSEs and then wasn’t very good at Maths until late A-levels. I understand how it feels to not understand and not enjoy Maths so I aim to instil the same love of Maths I have found in my later education to the students I teach. I aim to give my students the basic logic and confidence it requires to achieve what they desire Mathematically.
I have experience tutoring GCSE, A-level and University level Maths, however I am most comfortable tutoring up to A-level. I enjoy teaching A-level Pure and Further Pure Maths the most. I have taken exams and know what examiners look for when marking. I can help you pass an exam or enable you to score the top marks. It all depends on what the student is aiming for and the time we have available to us.
